black enuf* Screening and Talk

Description of the event from Eventbrite. RSVP here.

“Join us to screen the film black enuf*, an award-winning animated documentary and a talk with its filmmaker and animator, Carrie Hawks. Carrie will speak about the making of their film, and the process by which an animated film can take form, from preproduction to post. Carrie will also show another short animation to talk about styles of animation and lead the audience through an animation planning exercise.

When you RSVP, you will receive a link for the Zoom talk, which will include a screening of the film. Zoom attendees receive a link to stream the film at 6, followed immediately by a talk with Carrie.

About the film

In black enuf* a queer oddball seeking approval from Black peers despite a serious lack of hip-hop credentials. Carrie Hawks' quest for a Black Card (undeniable acceptance of my racial identity) takes them from Missouri to New York, and halfway around the world. "

Carries examines the expanding Black identity through a personal journey into their great-grandmother’s autobiography, interviews with family & friends, and their hand-drawn memories. Tongue-in-cheek humor makes such a heavy topic digestable in a film that uses a variety of illustrative styles.”
